Simon, an acclaimed director of public outcry films, is about to start shooting a new film about the struggle fought by a group of workers to keep their factory alive, preventing its relocation, and, with it, their jobs. However, filming turns out to be a real obstacle race between producers trying to impose a happy ending, unreachable financiers, a prima donna actor who generates more problems than solutions and a crew on the verge of mutiny. Joseph, an extra and aspiring director, has suddenly been entrusted with the delicate task of making the film’s behind the scenes clip. Joseph will have to confront the tragicomic vicissitudes that could lead the filming to disaster. The result will be proof that sometimes the ‘making of’ a film can be more interesting than the film itself.
The new feature by Cédric Kahn, one of the most original filmmakers of contemporary French cinema, is a movie in between comedy and drama in which there are other leading names of today’s cinema such as Emmanuelle Bercot, Xavier Beauvois and Valérie Donzelli also appear.

Cédric Kahn (Crest, France, 1966) is a director, screenwriter and actor. After the direction of the short film Les dernières heures du millenaire, he started work on his film debut with the feature film I bar dei binari (1991). He then worked on the television film Culpabilité zéro and a new film adaptation of one of the most famous novels by Italian writer Alberto Moravia, La noia. Then with the movie Roberto Succo, presented at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival, he describes the labyrinthine parable experienced by the eponymous protagonist of the crime story. With L’avion (2005) Kahn brought the comic strip Charly by Denis Lapière and Magda Seron to the screen. In 2009, he directed his first original screenplay Les regrets, in competition at the Rome Film Festival, a story of a mad love with Yvan Attal and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. Making Of is his most recent film and was presented at the 2023 Venice Film Festival.
