SENZACHIEDEREPERMESSO (Italia, 2014, 95′)
Sunday October 8th, 5 p.m, Cinema Massimo, Room 3
Tribute to Pietro Perotti in collaboration with National Cinema Museum Association
Job Film Days presents, in collaboration with National Cinema Museum Association, the movie Senzachiederepermesso by Pietro Perotti and Pierfranco Milanese (Italy, 2014) at Cinema Massimo on Sunday October 8th at 5pm. The film recounts the workers’ struggle through unpublished material filmed by Perotti himself, a worker at Fiat Mirafiori from 1969 to 1985.
This will be followed by a meeting with Pietro Perotti, who will be presented with an award named after the former worker and union delegate, Giovanni Panosetti, who was born in a concentration camp during the war and passed away in 2017. Panosetti was one of the protagonists of the November 12th, 1969 strike where he was at the head of the procession with one of the first battery-powered megaphones bought through a subscription among the workers in his workshop: this image was immortalized in a photograph by worker Raffaele Santomauro and in the film Contratto by Ugo Gregoretti. Because of his charisma he was considered dangerous over time, so much so that he was confined to the wards and put in the position of no longer working with the other workers. Moderated by Annalisa Lantermo (Director of Job Film Days) and Vittorio Sclaverani (President of National Cinema Museum Association).
Admission mode: The event will be accessible through the purchase of the tickets online or at Cinema Massimo’s ticket offices.

Pietro Perotti, worker at the Fiat Mirafiori plant from 1969 to 1985, was in the communication sector of the factory, creating stickers, murals, writings, drawings, papier-mâché and foam rubber puppets, thus transforming worker processions into a street theater performance. With his Super8 camera, he filmed the strikes that started in 1974. Drawing on previously unpublished material shot by the author-worker, the film builds a portrait of what was Europe’s largest metalworking factory.
Pier Milanese (Alessandria, Italy, 1956) is a director and producer. After moving to Turin in the early 1970s, he took an active part in the political and social struggles of those years, developing a great passion for social and political commitment and for cinema. In the 1980s, he devoted himself to his first experiments with video – exploring stories with a militant gaze – and began working as a production and editing assistant. He shot his first documentary, Nica Libre: appunti dal Nicaragua in 1985. He worked with Jean Rouch on Enigma in 1986. In the early 1990s, he co-founded G.M., a post-production company. In 1992, he started an independent production activity, producing and editing works by filmmakers such as Armando Ceste, Alberto Signetto, Daniele Gaglianone and Mimmo Calopresti. At the same time, he created Fantazone, the first video magazine dedicated to the fantastic. He met Robert Kramer in 1998 and, upon his death, founded the Route 1 cooperative. He resumed working as an independent author and began collaborating with the National Film Archive of the Resistance for which he signed several documentaries.
Pietro Perotti (Ghemme, Italy, 1939), worker, artist, filmmaker, he joined Fiat in July 1969 and remained there until April 25th 1985. He joined the Lenin Collective, where he met the artist Piero Gilardi, who became a true teacher for him. He then moved on to Lotta continua and Avanguardia operaia. After leaving Fiat, he returned to Ghemme, his home town in the Novara area, and invented a carnival dedicated to children’s book illustrators. He met the cartoonist Francesco Tullio Altan, with whom he collaborated. In 2006, he produced with Stefano Benni Mondo Babonzo, Museum of Imaginary Creatures. Materials from the workers’ struggles filmed by Perotti flow into Senzachiederepermesso.
