The anthropologist Zdenka moves with her husband and her three children to Svalbard, in Norway, to study life transformations in polar regions. She received a prestigious two-years scholarship to conduct a research on the impact of globalization on the inhabitants of the northernmost city in the world, Longyearbyen. But Zdenka discovers that in the Arctic not only icebergs and permafrost are disappearing. She perceives the heterogeneity of the small local community and the tensions that are hidden under the surface.
